Minting Information on the Australian Nugget

There is a tedious minting process that requires specific dies and details to strike the Australian Nuggets. High quality coin blanks must be manually fed into the striking presses where multiple strikes are made to result the high quality images on the Proof gold coins with a soft frost and raised image on a glazed background. Coin inspectors must wear white gloves while handling these coins to avoid hand oils on these precious Proof coins.

Technical information on the Australian Nugget

It comes in the size of 1kg with a face value of AUS$3000 and a gold purity content of 99.9%. Its gross weight is 1000.100g with a 74.50mm diameter and a thickness of 13.90mm.

The 10oz. Australian Nugget has a face value of AUS$1000 with 99.9% gold purity, 311.067g gross weight and 59.70mm diameter as well as a 7.90mm thickness.

The 2 oz. version denomination is AUS$200 with 99.9% pure gold content at 62.214g in gross weight. It is 40.40mm in diameter with 4.00mm thickness.

The 1 oz. Nugget comes with a face value of AUS$100 with 99.9% pure gold weighing 31.035g. It is 32.10mm in diameter with 2.65mm thickness.
